First Gothic 3 Reviews: Unplayable & Bug Ridden

September 30, 2006 - RPGDot has the poop that according to the first few German reviews, Gothic III is an unplayable, bug ridden mess. Thanks Evil Avatar.

 The major three German print mags, GameStar, PC Games and PC Powerplay have reviewed the first Gold Master of Gothic 3 in their current issues, all coming to the conclusion, that it was unplayable bugridden. While PC Powerplay refrained from giving out an actual rating, GameStar and PC Games rated it in the mid 80s.

An 80 isn't bad for an unplayable, bug-ridden game...

Something about everything I saw with Gothic 3 just told me this was going to be the result.  I didn't think it would be a bad game, but the development just seemed really, really sloppy to me.  I don't have any hard evidence as to why, just one of those gut reactions you get when you see media and such.  My head just told me sloppy.  I wonder if this is all really true?

That's the feeling I got from Gothic 1 and 2 as well. Regardless, the gameplay was fun and the games were good overall. That seems to be their biggest issues so far.

Gothic 1, which I played after the final patch, was great. And I heard it was a mess, out the box. Same w/ G2, which was good after it had patches behind it and all.

It's sad to hear again, another Gothic is buggy as hell. Damn it. I'mma wait to buy it, like I did w/ the other 2 Gothic games; I don't need to pay top dollar for a bug ridden mess.

Have to say, this was unexpected. After the crazy success of the originals, I expected the developers to learn from their mistakes and release the game in a far better state than the first two... not the opposite.

Hehe consider that even with the bugs it still rated around 80%!

I'm still looking forward to it, but I probably won't buy it until I see some patches.

I am still looking forward to G3, but like yourself -- if it's gonna be a bug-ridden mess, I'm going to wait for some patches first and for the price to drop.

The US Edition  is coming out later, so I wonder if will be already patched-up w/ a patch behind it before they decide to make it GOLD in the US.

I think by the time it is available buy for people like us, most of the bugs would have been ironed out. I say this because the English language version isn't out yet.

But, let's be real here -- might be at least a good few months before they stomp out probably a decent amount of bugs, from the sounds of things...
