Mutant League Resurrection.

This was going to be a fully 3D Mutant League Football game for next-gen consoles.
EA, get going on this again, will ya?

This would be awesome stuff -- especially for Multiplayer.
Especially online.
This just sounds like it could be the most fun Team Deathmatch Game Ever.

Quote
Supperannuation discovered another lost project, Mutant League Resurrection, a 3D title that was in development at EA Chicago in 2005 before it was cancelled due to lack of funding. It looks like Resurrection was pitched as a multi-sport title, as you can see the football field transform into a hockey rink around the 0:50 mark.

"We worked on it in our spare time externally of EA. We showed it at EA, but didn't create it there," says former EA designer oseph Hatcher. "Two of the original designers that were at EA Chicago at the time liked what we did and planned, and multiple EA studios wanted to help us here and there."

He continues, "The video is based on 3 characters we created inspired by the originals. We cloned them and animated them to show what the potential was in a 3D Mutant League series." If only someone would realize that potential and bring it to market!

I've never played the actual game of this, but I used to worship the cartoon.

The last couple of years have seen the basketball video game rivalry become more heated than ever before, as EA Sports and its main rival, 2K Sports, have sought dominance in one of the few sports where exclusive licenses don't come into play. Last year, EA Sports made a splash with its well-received NBA Live 10, a game many critics felt was a turning point for the series and one that signaled a shift in quality for the Live series. Fast-forward to 2010, and things have changed with EA's basketball series, both from a personnel standpoint and, now, with the game's entire approach.
