MysterD:
So, a few weeks ago, I ordered a new PC from a known custom-builder / gaming PC shop.

I picked out all the parts, customized it, and ordered around the Black Friday madness, while this all was on sale. Was cheaper than me putting this all together myself and scrounging up all these parts - especially finding parts like a RTX 3070 is almost impossible right now in today's climate, unless you get it from custom-builders or pre-fabs right now.

And it should be here soon!

So, here's the specs:

Motherboard - ASUS TUF Gaming Z490-Plus WiFi Board
Sound - Onboard 7.1 Sound
CPU - Intel i7 10700KF with 8 cores / 16 threads @ 3.80Ghz
GPU - 8GB ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 OC
Installed RAM - Crucial Ballistix (2 x 8GB sticks) 16GB RAM at 3000Mhz
(Maximum amount of RAM that the mobo' allows - 128GB RAM)
Drive #1 - 1 TB Intel 665P NVMe M.2 SSD
Drive #2 - 2 TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD
Drive #3 - 2 TB Intel 660P NVMe M.2 SSD (added this on 12-31-2022) *
PSU - 750W Corsair RM750 Plus Gold Cert. Fully Modular Ultra Quiet Power Supply
Case / Fans - Mid-Range Sized Case with Six 120mm fans (RGB)
Water Cooler - Cooler Master MasterLiquid MK240L with RGB
Keyboard - Skorpion RGB Mechanical Keyboard
Mouse - Cooler Master Mouse MM710 Honeycomb Ultra Light Mouse.
OS - Win 10 Home x64.

Original Cost = $1636 approx. (before any adding/modifying).

* = updated and added to the PC

Indeed, I did! :)

Can't wait 'til it shows up next week!

Can't wait to throw some games at it - Control: Ultimate, Battlefield 5, Shadow of the TR, Watch Dogs: Legion (which comes w/ the 3070 being in the PC, part of the NVidia promo), and other RTX games at it!

Right now, the easiest way to score any of those high-end and new parts - i.e. Nvidia 3070, 3080, 3090; and of the new AMD 5xxx CPU's or 6xxx GPU's - is to go w/ a custom-builder or prefab's; they seem to have the best line to getting this stuff.

If you check Reddit - some people w/ custom-builders like IBuyPower, CyberPower, etc - they've been ordering the weakest stuff a new build can get them, just only to try to get the cards...b/c all they need/want is the card! LOL. Probably easier & cheaper than trying their "luck" w/ scalpers on Ebay w/ insane jacked-up scalping prices.

It's almost impossible trying to score new stuff from NewEgg, Best Buy, Amazon, or anyone else selling this stuff.

My old W7 PC is pretty much....well, toast...or maybe close to it. Namely, the CPU; it's like 9 years old! The old trust i7 950! I ordered this new PC like days before my W7 PC began to hit 100 degrees Celsius and actually just keeps shutting down on me (b/c of safely precautions built-in, I'd presume). Good timing on this new PC order, pretty much.

I ordered some thermal paste for the old W7 PC; hoping it's just that, as it looks all dried-out and like it needs some.

Sure, my 6GB GTX 1060 laptop is fine and all, but not all games now hit 1080p60; and yeah, I really want a new desktop. My W7 desktop's old and isn't cutting it for new stuff, as my laptop's been doing all the gaming work for newer titles for the last 2 years or so.

K-man:
There's little in life more full of promise and potential than a new PC build.  Congrats!  I'll probably be looking to do it sooner or later myself.

Oh man, sounds like an awesome rig. Congrats.
