apparently it kicks notazombie ass on the Wii. Pretty sweet. Nice to hear they implemented the new control scheme well. Some will be wondering why they managed so well on the Wii yet couldn't figure out how to program a mouse. Such an odd disconnect between PC and console development with these guys. What gives?
I seem to often say this about console-to-PC ports for certain games -- like say Konami with the SH games and now Capcom w/ RE4. What gives w/ no mouselook support here?!?!? Yet, somehow, it sounds like they did a good job on the Wii-version...
On the PC version, my control-pad plays great -- I have the controls configured quite similar to how I configure SH games on a gamepad; and it plays great that way.
ONLY if you have a good PC control-pad (or an X360 gamepad that will work on the PC), should you even think of opting for RE4 for the PC. Though, the KB controls are just not good at all. It's quite uncalled for, in the modern day era of PC gaming, for a PC game to lack mouse support for moving the camera around. Using the WSAD or the cursors -- or whatever you configure it to control the cam -- is just plain awful.
RE4 PC looks great w/ all the lighting and all, w/ the newest version (UK version owners need the PC's newest patch to get the lighting thrown back in, while USA version owners got the patch integrated already onto the DVD Disc). And. on my PC, RE4 technically runs great. Sure, there's no graphical options and all -- but I'm sure most people probably do exceed the "what would be considered now" very low PC requirements. Turning FRAPS on, the game just runs 30 FPS, flawlessly. Never falls down on the framerate or goes higher -- smooth as freakin' silk. I think the framerate's capped -- but, as long as it runs smooth, that's what matters.
About the game, it sure is a hell of a lot of fun and is just action packed. I do like that I have to stand still and aim. It's quite different -- and is a cool lil' game mechanic, to give you that hectic quick twitch-and-quick-aim-and-shoot feel. Works well; very well.
Oh, and the voicework and sound effects are excellent. The game just sounds great on every level.
Though, one of the silliest things -- no official exit to the game. You have to hit Alt + F4 to get the game to quit to the Desktop. WTF is that all about?
Though, the game itself is quite impressive, to say the least. It rocks, plain and simple.
Anyway, pretty cool. If any of you Wii gamers out there haven't tried it yet... do it!
That's really cool that integrated the Wii-mote into the Wii port of RE4. I'll bet that's probably the best version of the game, just b/c of that feature.
Oh, plus the Wii version of RE4 does the cut-scenes in real-time -- which the PC version should've done, as good as the PC version's in-game engine looks and runs.
