Any casual setting is ok for sweatpants. I don't think we should restrict comfort by implying that sweatpants use is limited to particular places.

I hear what you're saying about girls in sweatpants, but i don't see a need for it.  If a girl is rocking sweatpants and pulling it off, she should be rocking yoga pants anyways.  But, while I do agree with you about comfort, I urge you to look into either comfortable cargo pants or trackpants. While still socially stigmatized, you look a little bit less poor...which is always good.

I don't actually wear them in pubic, or at least not usually. I find my jeans, which are really worn in, extremely comfortable.

But I did used to wear them to highschool. I found that they made my numerous naps much more comfortable.
