This is real?  I imagine some high-strung actors blow up like that all the time.  Capturing the whole thing and leaking it out is what's rare.

Yea it's real.  It apparently happened in July '08 during filming of Terminator: Salvation.

The Director of Photography was messing around with the lights during filming of an emotionally challenging scene and Christian Bale flipped out.

i can see bale's perspective here. he's an awesome actor, and considering how badly i want T4 to rock, it's a good thing he takes it so seriously. if there's some guy fucking about in his line of vision, he's not going to be able to involve himself in the scene as much.

that was a pretty awesome rage, anyhow.

It's pretty stupid shit.  I can see his point, but chill the fuck out.  I hate celebrities.  I do happen to really like Bale as an actor, but this shit pisses me off.

I only heard the audio and nothing else a few days ago, but I did assume that the scene he was doing was probably fairly charged, and that's why he got so worked up.  I've known a few actors, and I know how hard it can be for them to get into a certain frame of mind, or how different they can react to you once they get there (they need time to get out of it, sometimes).  So I can understand it... but it's still on the excessive side.  By a lot.

Yeah, no doubt excessive.  Especially after like the 3rd minute.

But I can see where he is coming from.  He's being vulnerable and doing an emotional scene and some guy is dicking around.  Definitely doesn't justify 5 minutes of cursing, though.
Suck it, Pugnate.

Not to go too far off topic here, but are the Terminator movies being taken seriously again or something. The first was good, the second had good action but I don't really think it was particularly moving in any way, and the third, I'd like to imagine didn't happen. Is this like another Batman thing, where the movies turned to shit then someone suddenly decided to take them seriously again?

I liked the 2nd a lot, even emotionally.  Linda Hamilton especially was outstanding.

I guess I'm just emotionally numb. I liked the movie, but don't remember it being emotional. Well, except maybe the idea of the Terminator being the dad that John never had, but had to leave him in the end. If I recall you've even got John saying "don't go" instead of "don't do it".

I agree with most of you that he was being an excessive, drama queen...but he's not an amazing actor. He's just boring to watch, he's the most boring Batman ever and he's the most boring character in the movie. However, even though he's been in a lot of other movies I like he's also boring in those too. I love American Psycho, but he's even a wooden, uninspired sociopath.

Hahaha!  Awesome.  Really.  I'd dance to that.  Hit the high-quality link.  The audio improves markedly.

Edit:  You can now download a 320-kbps stereo MP3 from Revolucian here.

Another celebrity I couldn't care less about. Do something that matters, and maybe I'll pay attention.

Maybe, but the rave remix took on a life of its own.  It's up to 1.5 million views in less than 3 days.  This Lucian guy may have just found his 15 minutes.  I read that even CNN played a horribly bleeped-out version of it.

That's the thing that's so great about the original rant.  From the way he goes off you'd think he was a brain surgeon that just lost a patient because someone fucked up.  But no, he's an actor and now he has to reshoot a scene...for a Terminator movie.

The rave remix, however, is like the best shit ever.

Yeah but even the spoofs represent an obsessive culture. Why should we care that these people act well and make large amounts of money? What does that prove? I couldn't care less about any of them.

Um, good question.  Maybe living vicariously?  How many times have you wished you could go on a rant like that against some idiot that rules your life.  Don't you wish you had the clout to do it and get away with it?  No job loss, no teeth kicked in, no hell to pay.

From what I gather, this director of photography had been getting on Bale's nerves before the explosive incident.  I wasn't there, so I don't really know how much he deserved it.

Well how deep do we want to get? I could elaborate...

Didn't mean to ruin the thread I just hate how celebrities get elevated above the rest of us. It makes no sense to me.

The rant was funny.

He said something about Bruce Springsteen at the superbowl and I had to find out (maybe I'm in the dark here and the only person in the world that didn't watch the game), so I went to Youtube.

Bruce Springsteen powerslides into a camera during halftime, crotch first:

Yeah, I was watching the Super Bowl and saw it live.  Hilarious.

This was easily one of the more lame Super Bowl halftime shows I'd seen.  It stood in stark contrast to Tom Petty last year.
