Oscar Mike?

Oscar Mike — On the Move, the names of the two NATO phonetic alphabet letters O and M which stand for the phrase. Used on the radio and in shorthand to each other.

Is that it? I always hear it referenced in all of these modern military shooters, but was there some other reference to something specific that happened?

Never heard of it, so I googled it.  First hit was this:

In COD:MW2 it was used frequently for "on the move".  "We're oscar mike!"
