Seriously, they've just been doing 'more of the same' since the first expansion. There as the first game, then three expansions, two of which I played, and all three did the exact same thing. F.E.A.R. was amazing, but there was only so much of that game I could consume.

Then I had a look at F.E.A.R. 2 and it was again more of the same... so I mean a whopper can be a delicious burger, but at some point you want to try something else, or at least you don't want to see the whopper as the whopper 2.

I know, I know, F.E.A.R. 3 could be very different, and I may actually get it from the bargain bin, but my concern for this game is exactly ZERO.

I liked the first F.E.A.R. but it wasn't terribly memorable.  It definitely wasn't 'good enough' to warrant the number of expansions and sequels it had.  I didn't play the second one and like pug, have little to no interest in it and the series as a whole.

FEAR 3 is official now, coming out this Fall.

John Carpenter is on-board here to help w/ crafting the in-game cinematics.
Point Man is the main character this game.
You will be able use Paxton Fettel in the game's "Divergent Co-Op Mode."

EDIT:
Monolith is NOT working on FEAR 3.
Day 1 Studios is working on FEAR 3.

EDIT 2:
FEAR 3 - Live Action Trailer.

Was FEAR 2 any good?  The demo never did it for me.

John Carpenter? This is always the first thing in mind my mind every time I think of John Carpenter!

It is also the best response to anything related to Twilight.

FEAR 2 was good - but it's nothing special. But, instead of being a trend-setter like the original was - this game follows a lot of the over-used cliches of the FPS genre - train/tram sequence (like Half-Life); vehicular battles (Riddick did this - with a mech); rail shooter sections; etc etc. Throw in the fact that they also use a lot of the same and similar "horror" tricks in the original - yeah, it's nowhere as scary nor as disturbing as the original.

Also, on Normal, the game's just TOO easy. On hard, the game's TOO hard. There's really no in-between here. I don't like that they have a checkpoint system instead of a save anywhere system, as well - sometimes, checkpoints are just WAY too far apart.

About the MP - The mode w/ the Mech was cool. But, other-wise - eh, nothing special. Typical type of MP stuff, otherwise. And by the time they put Slo-Mo MP back into the MP portion of the game, most people were probably playing other stuff. The servers were pretty much dead w/ FEAR 2 MP on the PC, when I played. I don't know why they didn't ship FEAR 2 w/ Slo-Mo MP - which was the best MP mode in the original FEAR.

A major improvement w/ FEAR 2 was the environments were more varied than the original.
