The Fast and the Furious 6
« on: Wednesday, June 05, 2013, 08:36:29 AM »
Don't see it.  It's total crap.  Honestly I'd rather watch Battleship again.

I just don't buy that some crowd of car enthusiasts/criminals would be hired by the U.S. government to help stop a Bond-ish villain from capturing top secret components that make... something bad?  Oh and there is this scene where Vin Diesel saves Michelle Rodriguez that is just mind-boggingly unbelievable and stupid.

So... it's actually worse than the last 5? That's a real feat.

5 was supposed to be good, for the genre (brainless action).  Not 6, I guess?

I went in to Fast 5 expecting physics-defying BS, and that's exactly what I got. I enjoyed it because it delivered the inane action I was anticipating. Now I have to see 6 just to see how bad Scott found it!

So I'll wait for it to hit DVD/BR so I can rent it.

Well I only saw the first one and 6.  The first one was okay I guess.  This one doesn't really resemble the first except for a few characters.  The series has sure expanded its scope since the first movie.

I'm honestly not familiar with it at all. I hung with a crowd of import car tuning guys around the time some of the earlier ones came out (legit guys... nobody just putting a giant exhaust pipe on their Civic), so we all just sort of made fun of it, but I wasn't really a car guy and didn't really care one way or the other. They all just looked really dumb to me even from a car-theatrics standpoint.

I thought all the FF movies sucked except the 5th one, which was pretty good. So good, it was surprising. It is like you lay four pieces of turd, and then a shiny egg.

How long is that runway?  I was going to look at the timestamps on the movie from the beginning and from the end of that chase scene, then multiply it by a conservative 100 mph to arrive at a guesstimate.  That link has a much better analysis.

This is only one of the many completely impossible sequences in the film.  Incredible from beginning to end, and I mean that literally, not in the good way.  Does no one care about believability anymore?

What ever you do, don't start counting number of bullets fired between reloads.

Haha!  And don't get me started on the Superman cross-bridge rescue.

Haha. I didn't mind Fast Five. It was entertaining as long as you shut off your brain.

So I see you didn't heed my warning.

Already mentioned it in my original post. People quite literally groaned in the theater at that scene. That was the only time I've ever seen that happen and I go to the theater quite a bit and sat through plenty of stinkers.

I have seen Fast Five since making this thread. It is much, much better that 6. Still pretty unbelievable but doesn't touch 6.
