I have a lot of games that I don't feel like playing for whatever reason.  I just got back into God of War II though, and that should probably hold my interest until something new comes out.

I just put another hour or so into God of War II so I can clear that out before Persona 4 hits.  Holy shit, the Kraken fight is like the best thing ever.

I'm a Spider-Man fan so naturally when Web of Shadows came out I jumped all over it. Sadly, and craptastically, the only controller it recognizes is the goddamn 360 gamepad. It won't even recognize my Logitech Dual Action or Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2. Been playing it with keyboard and mouse. It's not terrible, but definitely more at home with a gamepad.

Oh and I tried plugging my PS3 SIXAXIS via USB, the good news is it was detected properly and it even shows up in the Game Controllers list (Control Panel) but the pad doesn't switch on. I'm gonna try connecting it via Bluetooth once I find my Bluetooth key.

Gotta admit it:  I picked up the new CoD and it's a hell of a lot of fun online.

I've also been playing Fallout 3 intermittently, though I'm considering making a new, more murderous character.  The heavy speechcraft thing isn't really working for me.

Just finished Gears 2.  Great game.  Much better paced than the first.  Suffers from "Empire Strikes Back" syndrome.  Meaning tons of loose ends and no real conclusion at all.  Basically a long advertisement for Gears 3.  I was going to buy 3 anyway, why not throw a fucking bone or two my way?

I think b/c you're playing something that they are aiming for to be a trilogy. I think a lot of games, movies, or books that have had a "Part 2" wind up in the situation where "Part 2" leaves so many dangling threads, so that the trilogy finished them all off in a very satisfying way.

Look at for film, the LOTR series and Matrix series -- you'll see what I'm talking about; Part 2 in each of those series leave a good amount of threads hanging. In games, you can look at Half-Life 2 and Baldur's Gate 2: Shadow of Amn -- you'll see a handful of threads still dangling by the end of that game. (Of course, BG 2: TOB finished off all of BG2: SOA's dangling threads).

To be fair he did mention books as well...but then he only mentioned the movies.  ARgh.  My mind just got blown.

That seals my decision to avoid Gears 2, then.  I was really disappointed with how they handled the plot and setting in the first one, with tons of potential that just wasn't realized.  If they didn't do anything different with 2, I really don't need it.  I've shot enough aliens in my life, and after all, I could go back and play the first game again for free.

I wouldn't avoid it.  Game is absolutely excellent.  The campaign itself is much better paced than the first, and there are a few environments/scenes in the game that just made my jaw drop.  Game is beautiful too, maybe the best I've seen on 360 yet.

Well, I don't mean avoid forever, just either wait until there's a long lull with nothing else that I want, or until it gets dirt cheap.  It isn't that I don't think there are things I'll like about it, just that I have so little spare money for games now that I have to start getting much pickier about what I buy.  Which I hate.

My brother and I are waiting on fire for it! The official announcement at the last E3 said that it would be released "beyond this holiday season." Estimates suggest early to mid 2009.

I'm gonna' be all over it.  I don't really look back on those games with these fond memories and think "Oh it was the best thing evar, I have to go back and play it!", but at the same time, with both games I've gotten sudden cravings which have resulted in me going back and playing them through from the beginning.  And I really enjoy them when I'm smack in the middle of them.  Though I never did finish Chains of Olympus, which I feel bad about.  It wasn't as good as the others, but it was still quite good... I just got burnt out.

Of course. Though, I've only seen the movies. Never read the books -- but I'll bet the movies end in probably pretty much the same fashion as the books did...or pretty damn close to the books (to satisfy the original book fans).

I just created a character on Shin Megami Tensei Imagine Online. It's pretty interesting so far and seems to be quite story-driven, atleast in comparison to other MMOs.

It reminds me a lot of Phantasy Star Online. Worth a look.

I could certainly be persuaded to take a look.  I was curious about it but didn't realize it was going to be free.

It's still in Beta but it looks pretty stable and established.

The gameplay is pretty traditional but it does feel like it mixes some PSO, especially with attack combos.

It's not the most technically proficient MMO out there but the art style is pretty good. It looks like it'll be fun. It's too bad it doesn't spport widescreen, at least not yet.

If you log on look me up, my character is called Karim. Apparently Kaze, Onimaru, Onikaze, Kazemaru were all taken.. Naturally, since it's a Japanese game.

While we're here, I've been jumping back into some PS2 gaming:

-Final Fantasy XII
-Persona 4
-Okami

All of which are pretty big titles so I'm gonna try to just dedicate myself to one at a time.

On the PC front I'm going through Fallout 3 again, since my last buncha saves were corrupted, but it's ok. FO3 is the sort of game I don't really mind going through several times. It does kinda make me miss Oblivion too.

And of course Left 4 Dead satisfies my multiplayer coop cravings.

Halo 2
Gears of War 2

I was putting in a couple of hours a night into Halo 2, but then I switched of to Gears 2 and lost track of time. I should just finish Halo 2, I've got like 2 levels left. I've also been trying to bring my GoW2 multiplayer skills up to par so I don't get completely destroyed so much. Too much WoW has killed my gaming skills.

Just started playing Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X and it's pretty fun. If you love Ace Combat this is the next best thing on PC.. At least since Crimson Skies, which I love dearly.

Still playing Deus Ex.  I also picked up FF IV DS on the cheap so I've been hitting that up.  It's quite difficult compared to the other iterations.  Any given random encounter can and will hand your ass to you if you're not careful.  You almost have to grind out a few levels every time you go somewhere new.  I'm rather enjoying it though, and it was more than worth the 20 spent on it.  Even though I've purchased the game 3 times now.

Kinda missed this thread :)

I am currently playing:

The Experiment (a.k.a. 112 Experience), a unique puzzle/mystery game where you look into the game through security cameras and try to help a woman geth through obstacles and uncover clues.

Hey, how was that game, after all was said and done?
Was it any good?
Worthwhile?

You think it's worth $4 plus shipping from Gogamer?

I reached a point where I was stuck and had no idea what to do. Eventually I just gave up.. that and when I formatted I forgot to backup my save file.

It's actually not a bad game. Think of it as an elaborate minigame. For $4, sure why not? You may as well get something else at the same time to justify the shipping cost.

EDIT - All right.  I snagged that and The Movies.  Why not?  Not bad for under ten bucks.

YES.  If you don't have it, get it.  One of the better FPS games of its era, with an excellent story and lots of quality writing.

A shame that Jericho didn't turn out so well.  I think the problem there was that Jericho really didn't make all that much use of Barker beyond concepting stuff, and it didn't have a journal system like Undying, so couldn't disseminate information via the written word.  Though I still say people were needlessly hard on it.  It was functional, fun, ridiculously violent, had some cool monster designs, and some nice camera work.

But I digress.  Yeah, Undying is still really great.  The polygons show their age, but the story is interesting, the atmosphere is still oppressive, and the artistry that went into the game is still apparent.  And there's a decent amount of content there, too.
