Well, that went without any incident. I really wanted to go near the sea when the water receded. I've always wanted to do that since I read this story when I was a child about all the curious sea treasures exposed when water recedes before a tsunami.

How high did the waves get? Was everybody in a state of panic or did the warning systems keep things orderly?

nothing happened, the tsunami warning kept going off starting at 6 am... but things were orderly.. Lots of people evacuated though. Roads were busy from like 2 am till noon. I stayed home since we're out of the danger zone, but quite near the coast.
