I can't give the transfer enough praise. If you guys have blu-ray players, get 2001: A Space Odyssey , because the transfer is unfreakin'believable.

The movie itself is one of the greatest science fiction movies ever made, with a beautifully realistic portrayal of space exploration. It is also a HUGE MIND FUCK!

I picked this up a couple of years ago as well and I can definitely agree with you on the transfer looking amazing.  One of my favorite sci-fi movies to watch.  I should watch it on my new Sony Bravia and see it in 1080p this time (my previous HDTV was a 720p model).
