Red Dead Redemption 2: Fall 2017

RDR was in my personal top 3 of the last generation.  The above image suggests this will be a prequel dealing with John Marston's life in the gang.  Hopefully with it being a prequel they won't back themselves in a corner with the story and present something as impactful and memorable as RDR's narrative was.

Here is the reveal trailer, which doesn't reveal much:

Wouldn't it be Read Dead 3? Or Red Dead R-something?

Speaking of which, was Red Dead Redemption actually a sequel to Red Dead Revolver or was it a successor with an unrelated plot?

The latter.  Rockstar actually acquired the rights to Revolver from Capcom, who was initially going to publish it before Rockstar bought the studio working on it.  There are fan theories and such that link the two, but Redemption is just a spiritual successor to Revolver, and nothing more.

Most interesting.

I'm really psyched but I suspect it might just pan out to be a Red Dead Redemption remaster. I'd rather get a sequel.

Been keeping an eye on the developing red Rockstar texture.  Found the 7 cowboys this morning.  (Queue up theme from The Magnificent Seven.)  Bring it!

Given the 7 people in that promo image, I'd wager that it's not a remaster.  Leaks earlier in the year pointed to a prequel.  The seven people in the image suggests it'll be about his time with the gang.

Personally, I'd LOVE a remaster.  But as far as RDR goes I would be satisfied with a PC port that at least somewhat futureproofs the game.

Fall 2017.  Trailer coming on the 20th.

UGH, I GOTTA WAIT A YEAR!

Also, the bottom of the page denotes it is coming for PS4 and Xbox One.  No mention of a PC version.

The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.

Uh oh . . .  Revenue-stream focus incoming.  I guess GTA Online will be the model for everything from now on.

Plus a year.  Way too long a lead time to start teasing this.  I might be dead in a year.  If not, I'll pay attention again after Labor Day, '17.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (console versions) is getting through the roof scores for the most part, as you might expect:

Hopefully, that PC port is coming...this century.

Rockstar has revealed that the game will come with some additional bonuses that didn’t launch on consoles.

As well as some multiplayer goodies, a graphical upgrade, and free bonus games available when pre-ordering from the Rockstar Game Launcher, there will also be some brand-new story mode content for players to enjoy.

Within the announcement of the eagerly anticipated port, Rockstar cited that Red Dead Redemption 2 will come with “new Bounty Hunting Missions, Gang Hideouts, Weapons, and more."

Rockstar Games has since updated its support page to offer more solutions to possible Red Dead Redemption 2 PC crashes.

Alongside the previously made suggestions of updating your graphical driver and running Red Dead Redemption 2 PC as an administrator, Rockstar suggests the following solutions:

-- Temporarily disable your anti-virus software.
-- Update the Rockstar Games Launcher.
-- Clear your local Rockstar Games Launcher profile details.

Looks like RDR2 PC has the Dark Souls 2 PC problem:
https://www.pcgamer.com/red-dead-redemption-2s-pc-port-may-have-a-dark-souls-2-problem/

Notes:
- Dark Souls 2 had an issue when it hit PC, equipment degraded quicker when ran at 60fps...
- ...b/c the game's systems were also coded to the framerate, which was 30fps on consoles.
- Gamers with RDR2 PC are complaining that at faster framerates, Health, Stamina, and Dead Eye are degrading quicker.
- Also, day/night cycle is said to be also changing faster on RDR2 PC also.
