My ISP has just sent notice that they are ending their support for dial up connections at the end of the year. Lets hope my alternative works out, I guess.

Doesn't the FCC have mandates for broadband access? How is that resolved in your area? Or did I misinterpret something?

Not sure, will have to look into that more. I just know nothing has expanded into my area so wireless is about my only option. Lucky I found out about this Calyx thing or my options would be 5GB caps for $60/mo or some crap like that.

Alternative is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I will hopefully have many glowing things to say at that time. Right now all my fingers are crossed, which made typing this post rather tricky.

That's better than what I was getting a couple of nights ago for some reason. I was trying to download this huge update for Doom, and I was not happy.

My AT&T U-Verse connection I got rid of a couple of months ago did 12 Mbps down and only 1 up. So in some respects, what you have is pretty decent. You definitely won't be streaming 4K anytime soon, bit it should improve your life dramatically compared to where you were before.

I downloaded the update to Rocket League and played a match online, which means several things. 1) a 1.5GB update is no longer crippling, 2) I can play online!, and 3) Steam actually updates shit now!
