10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other
religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people
evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical
claim that we were created from dirt.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune
God.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to
Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah
slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination
of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about
gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy
Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed,
came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the
scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find
nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting
in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception
of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects
- will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider
your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed
to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking
in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.
2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered
prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think
that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about
the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a
Christian.
I dont think this is funny. I was upset reading this, but i have to say i was more upset because some of these did ring true to me. So then now i am going to have to dissect this post. Lets start what nick failed to do.
Point #10 : Not relevant - i am not outraged, i doubt many christians are, i am sure a lot of extremist will, but as i said, i think its not relevant and as such is just a stupid point.
#9 : Not accurate - we werent created from dirt per say, we were created by God - which by definition of a 'God' could have created anything from anything. The two things being compared are not standing on the same foundation.
#8 : A misunderstood concept. I am a son, a bf, and a co-worker. I am NOT 3 person. Same thing here. We are defining God's role rather than Him actually being 3 Gods.
#7 : An incorrect conclusion. Christians treats old testament much like history, and new testament much like our bread and butter. Not sure how it works, but we believe in Jesus - who teaches compassion and forgiveness. I guess all i can say about it is that early in the days, God was outraged when His new creation denies Him. However, as time goes, He gave them choice to follow Him, or not, with consequences in the afterlife. All in all, i think it is an insult to say that i or any christians would not be outrage if the slaughter back then happens now. Under ANY cause.
#6 : Someone help me with number 6 here?
#5 : Ignorance, a lot of christians believed that the 7 days of creation could mean anything.
#4 : Actually, i think buddhism is very tolerant, hahah. Not sure where this #4 comes from, there is nowhere that says we are most tolerant or loving.
#3 : Actually, i think those people are idiots too!
#2 : I think this is sadly true for a lot of christians, and it is actually FALSE. A lot of Christians misunderstood the concept of relying on God, and they misunderstood why God gave them free will. I completely disagree with this concept where I try my hardest, my best, my all, to do the only thing i know to do, to fail, and then to blame myself because i was 'obviously' not following God's intent for me. I am not sure if i am illustrating myself clearly >_<.
#1 : There is a passage about this in the bible.
About those who knows more about our religion than ourselves. I forgot what that passage is, but i like the fact that it is somehow prophesied that these people will show up.
All in all, i think this post did belong in the humor section.
