Town Meeting
« on: Wednesday, January 09, 2008, 11:04:24 PM »
So, sooner than later those who are interested in OW Meet 08 should gather on IRC and discuss it.

As it is, I'm throwing the week of March 22-30 as a doable time, but we should go over this with anyone who would like to take part this year. That means, for now, we should just come up with a time to talk about things. Maybe sometime this weekend?

Hmm, the only factor for me is money right now, but it might be doable for me now that I have a good chunk of paid vacation time. I'm off work tomorrow I'll hop on IRC then and see if anyone is on.

The times work for me, but the sooner we have something official the better.  The last thing I need is some dick at work putting in for the time and then me not getting it.

But yeah, it should be a good time.  For those who are curious, check my website (theflyingmonkeyapparatus.com) for pictures of last year's meet and such.  Generally speaking we're a pretty laid back crowd, so as beo himself said, it might not be crazy enough for some.  There's not a lot of drinking or partying or bar hopping or any of that.  Mostly just playing games and watching stupid YouTube videos on Sy's Wii.

Sorry, but the only way I'm ever having a face-to-face meeting with someone from the Internet is if I'm there to steal his kidney.

I'll be wearing mine at OWmeet.  I'm going to hide my Raisa Repellent™ spray bottle under it so she can't take me by surprise and get me while I'm eating dinner.

Just a small update about me coming out there, I wouldn't be able to come out until March 24th, because March 23rd lands on Easter Sunday and that day is already filled up with requests, but 24th well into the first couple of weeks of April looks good for requests, I'll hopefully have a better update on my status sometime later this month.

Bear in mind it doesn't have to exact.  Some people will probably come earlier than others, and we do so enjoy community trips to the airport.

Yeah, last year it was kinda treated as an open week for everyone to come visit. People all came and left on different days more or less.

So are we official on this stuff yet?  I'm going to put in for the time off since I can change it later if I absolutely have to, and it seems like we've got 4 people who are cool with the time and we've got enough free housing for the current crew +1.

I'm going to put in for the time (March 24th-30th) on Saturday and if for some reason something happens, I can cancel the vacation and save it for when I have the money.  It's looking highly possible though, if one of you can house me, its almost a done deal.

We should be good.  Pyro hasn't indicated if he's gonna' be able to make it or not, but it looks like we've got room for 3 right now which will cover you and him both (2 with Sy, 1 with me).

Ugh, figures something might go wrong.  Apparently I can't request for my vacation time until Jan 27th even though they originally told us the 1st, fucking jackasses.  Hopefully those days don't get filled up between now and then, the 24th was already filled up, the 25th-30th looked good, but if those get filled up then I'm fucked unless I could come out there on a later date.  I was going to request off April 1st as well because I have my normal 3 days off on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th after that. I'll know on the 27th and let you guys know.

Go ahead and count me in.  The requests for March 25th-April 1st off were approved as far as I can see and money shouldn't be an issue.  I should be good to go unless the shit hits the fan for some reason.  I'll probably be buying my ticket around Feb 8th when my tax return check is deposited to my account.

Awesome.  Will you be spending the whole time with us, or will you be heading to the city?  I'm pretty sure I remember you saying you have friends in SF.

I'll be spending the whole time with you guys, I've lost touch with my friend in San Fransisco about 2 years ago, she moved to Portland anyways.

Okay, my tax return check deposited a week earlier than I thought it would so it looks like I will be buying my tickets today probably, I just want to double check with everyone and make sure this whole thing is good to go before I buy the tickets.

If Que doesn't house you, I will. We'll still have to decide who gets who (so to speak), but I'm willing to provide somewhere for two people provided one doesn't mind a floor mattress. The only hard part for me will be the 31th and the 1st since I'll be back at school again. Something could probably be worked out though since Que will be off through that time. Odds are I'll just be disappearing for the first half of the day during those days... or if you're like Pyro I'll be getting home when you wake up.

So should I leave on the 31st or the 1st?  What's easier for you and Que?  Also is there a certain time frame (morning, afternoon, evening?) you guys would prefer for me arriving and leaving, I'll buy the tickets for whatever time is closest to your preference, I was thinking afternoon on both.

Belmont: Coming, anytime you want. I ended up picking up Idol from the train station around 4 or 5am, so that's not really a big deal (although, you might not want jump on a plane at 2am). Leaving... Personally, later in the afternoon would be better so I can see you off if you decided to leave on the 31st or 1st. Whatever is easier for Que and you though.

Keebs: We'll all need to talk. It was my understanding that we'd be housing Idol, Belmont, and Pyro since they were the first to say much about things.
