I ordered something on 6/21 from Amazon (Amazon.com itself, not a third party seller). It was a CD and a DVD. For some reason it didn't ship right away and didn't go out until 6/28. Well, the package still didn't arrive today. I just thought of it and checked the tracking information on the order. It was estimated to arrive on 7/2/10. Obviously that didn't happen. That pisses me off enough that it missed the target ship date and the next business day after (really two more business days since 7/5/10 isn't truly a holiday). But what really got me was all the location information. It shipped from Campbellsville, KY. I'm not sure how good you guys are about U.S. geography, but Cincinnati sits on the border of OH and KY.
I used Google Maps to generate driving directions between Amazon's facility in Campbellsville and my house and it is 173 miles and takes 3 hrs. 17 min. I realize that they are shipping via the UPS rather than having some route driver come from their distribution center to my house directly, but that is fucking crazy that it has been 9 days since it shipped and it still hasn't made it. The fucking Pony Express would have kicked the shit out of this.
The other sad this is that I don't even know if the item is moving. The shipping location shows Campbellsville, KY, but the location information for a few arrival scans after that show no location at all. The last update was last night at 10:00pm.
